William John King (January 4, 1864 – July 16, 1936)[1] was the head coach of Hampden–Sydney College's football team in 1895 and went 1–1. He was then The College of William & Mary's football team coach in 1897, 1898 and 1900, going 2–4. He compiled a 3–5 overall record. King was Physical Director (Director of Physical Education) at William & Mary from 1901 to 1905.[2]

He married Hallie Haxall in 1901. King died at his home in Newport News in 1936.[3][4]
