Tim Maurice Johnson (born February 7, 1978) is a gridiron football linebacker most recently with the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League.[1] He was signed by the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2001. He played college football at Youngstown State.
Johnson has also been a member of the Chicago Bears and Oakland Raiders.
College career[]
He spent the final two seasons of his college career at Youngstown State University after starting at East Mississippi Community College.
Professional career[]
First stint with Ravens[]
Johnson signed the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent on April 28, 2001. He was released as a final cut on September 1, and re-signed on September 5. The Ravens released him a final time five days later.[2]
Chicago Bears[]
Johnson signed with the Chicago Bears practice squad on September 28, 2001. He was released on October 30. On February 12, 2002, the Bears assigned Johnson to NFL Europe. They released him on August 31.[2]
Oakland Raiders[]
Johnson signed with the Oakland Raiders practice squad on September 4, 2002. He was released on September 19 only to be re-signed on September 25. The Raiders released him again on October 9. He re-signed on November 6, and was elevated to the active roster on November 25. He was named the NFL's Special Teams Player of the Week for the week of January 13.[2]
He was waived on August 31, 2003 and re-signed on October 1. He got his first career start on December 1. Following the 2004 season he became a restricted free agent and re-signed on June 2, 2005.[2]
Second stint with Ravens[]
Johnson re-signed with the Ravens on May 17, 2006. He was released on September 2 and re-signed on December 4.[2]
Calgary Stampeders[]
Johnson signed with the Calgary Stampeders on August 22, 2009.[3] He became the first player for the Stampeders to be assigned the number "0".[4]
