Thaddeus 'Thad' Lewis (born November 19, 1987) is an American football quarterback. He is currently on the Cleveland Browns active roster after spending time on the practice squad for both Cleveland and the St. Louis Rams. He played college football at Duke.

Early years[]

Lewis played at Hialeah Miami Lakes High School under coach Jerry Hughes. As a senior he led his team to the state playoffs and was rated the 65th overall quarterback in the nation. He was so good the school limited him to playing only the fourth quarter, to give the other team a chance. While in high school, Lewis was trained by the well known Floridian quarterback coach, Chris Fahr. Fahr trained Lewis, along with other standout American Football quarterbacks such as Matt Wilde, John Glazier, and Stephen Guenther. Lewis later thanked Fahr for his collegiate and professional accomplishments by giving Fahr his grandparents condominium.

College career[]

Lewis played college football for the Duke Blue Devils. While at Duke he set records for career passing touchdowns and career passing yards. During his senior season he was a finalist for the prestigious Davey O'Brien Award, presented to the nation's top quarterback.

During his career he threw for 10,065 yards and threw 60 TD against 40 INT over his last 3 seasons and ran for 9 touchdowns.

Professional career[]

St. Louis Rams[]

Lewis signed with the Rams as an undrafted free agent soon after the 2010 NFL Draft.

Cleveland Browns[]

The Cleveland Browns claimed him off of waivers on September 4. Lewis was later waived by the Browns on October 11, 2012. He was signed to the practice squad on October 13, 2012. He was again added to the Browns active roster December 24, 2012 after injuries to Brandon Weeden and Colt McCoy.[1] He made his first career start when the Browns took on the Pittsburgh Steelers on December 30, 2012 and completed 22 of 32 passes for 204 yards with one touchdown and one interception, though the Browns were defeated 24-10. [2]This performance is one of particular note due to his strong performance against the first ranked defense in the NFL during the 2012 season.[3]
