Super Bowl LI, the 51st edition of the Super Bowl and the 47th modern-era National Football League championship game, is scheduled to be played in 2017. Fox will telecast the game in the United States.[1]
The league will select the sites for both Super Bowl L and Super Bowl LI in early 2013.[2] On October 16, 2012, the NFL announced that Houston's Reliant Stadium is a finalist to host the game.[2] Houston will then compete against the runner-up for the site of Super Bowl L: either Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida or Santa Clara Stadium in Santa Clara, California, the new home of the San Francisco 49ers scheduled to open in 2014.[2][3]
