Stacy Danley is the CEO of SLD Sports Management Group, specializing in event management, corporate consulting, and sports marketing. With over 20 years in sports leadership, he was an AD at Alabama State (2010-2012), Tuskegee (2007-2009), and Auburn University (1997-2005). Biography[]
Stacy Danley is the President and CEO of SLD Sports Management Group, a premiere management consulting, sports and special event marketing and management company that specializes in providing quality event management corporate consulting, strategic planning, fund-raising, new business development, sales and corporate marketing.
Danley has been a sports executive and business leader for over 20 years. He served as a Division I athletic director at Alabama State University (2010-2012), Division II athletic director at Tuskegee University (2007-2009), Associate Athletic Director/ Men’s Sports Coordinator at Auburn University (1997-2005), Compliance Assistant at the Southeastern Conference (1995-1997). Additionally, Danley owned and operated a small construction company - Construction 32 Homebuilders -in Auburn, Alabama (2005-2007).
When Danley served as the athletic director at Alabama State University, he provided supervision and guidance in all areas related to the ASU Athletics program and managed all phases the athletics department. He managed $85 million in athletic facility enhancements including the construction of a $67 million state-of-the-art football stadium. He Identified $14 million in sponsorship inventory for new and existing athletic facilities. He oversaw an increase in ASU Athletics total revenue from $250K to $1.3 million by 2012. During his tenure at ASU, Danley created the All-American Society – a fund-raising “giving” society that Identified athletic donors who pledged a minimum of $25K and above. He also negotiated a record $500K football game guarantee contract to compete against SEC member Institution, the University of Kentucky.
Danley was appointed to the NCAA Division I Recruiting and Athletics Personnel Cabinet and served as a Board of Directors, FCS ADA Executive Committee (2010 -2012). Danley is a member of the Black Coaches and Administers Association (BCA) and a former member of the Greater Lee County Boys and Girls and Red Cross Board of Directors.
Prior to joining the Hornets Athletic program, Danley served as the athletic director at Tuskegee University where he oversaw the day-to-day operation of the entire Athletic Department. Under Danley, a $837K corporate sponsorship proposal with Pepsi/Buffalo Rock Bottling Company was negotiated and $602,945 in Football and Men’s & Women’s basketball game guarantees were secured.
Danley also developed the Athletic Facilities Master Plan for (Softball Field, Baseball Field, Athletic Complex, New Track and the Football Stadium) designed by Heery International, Inc. Danley managed a $200K Home/Football Locker-room enhancement project and oversaw the construction of the new $1million softball stadium.
In October 1997, Danley returned to his Alma Mata as the first African American athletic administrator in the programs history as an Assistant Athletic Director. He was promoted to Associate Athletic Director in 2003. Danley served as the NCAA Compliance Officer for the Department (1997-2003), and as the Sport Administrator for all Men’s Olympic Sport teams including the Men’s Basketball program. Additionally, Danley created and launched the “Former Player Fund-raising Program” and served as the publishing editor for the AU Connection Magazine.
Between 1995 and 1997, Danley served as a Compliance Assistant at the Southeastern Conference, headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama. Danley was a member of the compliance review team for the Conference Office and was responsible for conducting compliance reviews for member institutions.
Danley is a graduate of Auburn University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Adult Education and his Masters of Education in Administration of Higher Education. Danley was a four-year letter winner in the sport of football and is a member of the 1980’s All Decade team. He was an All-SEC Running back, selected as the 1988 SEC – Sophomore of the Year and a SEC Legends selection. Danley signed NFL contracts with the Seattle Seahawks and the Indianapolis Colts. Danley and his wife, Stephanie, have three sons, Lawson, Trace and Landon.
