The Presidents' Trophy was initiated into Canadian Interuniversity Sport in 1980 by Ed Zemrau, CIS Past President and Robert Doty, Past President of the College Bowl . The annual award is presented to the most Outstanding Defensive Player in CIS football .[ 1]
