Personal life[]
The former Notre Dame football player authorities busted last week for allegedly getting 22 pounds of pot in the mail has entered a not guilty plea.
Michael Turkovich, 25, of Patton Township, waived his right to a preliminary hearing on Wednesday in Centre County court.
In the charging documents, Anthony Todaro, of the state police’s Central Interdiction Unit wrote that a parcel was intercepted in Pittsburgh on April 24 because it was suspected to contain marijuana, and authorities set up a controlled delivery of the package to the address, 103 E. Beaver Ave. Suite 11, State College.
There, police said Turkovich signed for the package and was arrested.
In custody, Turkovich reportedly told police about the details of the package and how the pot was to be distributed, both of which police didn't elaborate on in the charging documents. Turkovich also allegedly told police he had 25 more pounds of pot at his residence on Oakwood Avenue as well as a gun and a large amount of money in his car.
His attorney, Joe Amendola, couldn't be reached for comment.
Turkovich is free after posting $100,000 bond.
