Michael Botterill (born November 9, 1980, in Belleville, Ontario) is a professional Canadian football linebacker who is currently a free agent. He was selected in the sixth round with the 51st pick by the Montreal Alouettes in the 2003 CFL Draft.
He played CIS football for the McMaster Marauders. Botterill also played for the Edmonton Eskimos and Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Married Radio and Television host, Belleville native Orlena Cain on June 16, 2012 in their hometown of Belleville, Ontario after residing together for more than 2 years. The couple later separated ON September 14, 2012 citing irreconcilable differences. Mike Botterill is the owner of Bellevegas Boardroom Bar and Lounge in downtown Belleville and former co-owner of the now defunct Cove Restaurant Bar & Grill.
Belleville City police reported, January 29th, 2013 that businessman and former CFL player Mike Botterill, 32,is one of two men charged with fraud over $5,000 in relation to a reported break and enter last year. The second is Wade Ennis, 28, both of Belleville, have been charged with fraud over $5,000. Ennis has also been charged with one count of public mischief. The charges stem from a report of a break and enter at a waterfront business of Dundas Street West in October.
At that time, police stated in a release, officers were called to The Cove bar for a break and enter. Members of the Criminal Investigations Division deemed the report to be unfounded.
The pair were arrested Monday and were released with court dates in March.
