Matthew David Baker (born May 11, 1983) is a former American football quarterback. Matt was signed by the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent in 2006. Matt played college football at North Carolina.

Matthew David Baker has also been a member of the Dallas Cowboys, New Orleans Saints, Arizona Cardinals and Miami Dolphins.

Matthew David Baker attended Brother Rice High School. His high school accolades include:

  • Led his football team to the state championship and a 12-1 record as a senior
  • All-State Dream Team and Associated Press in football
  • Two time All-State and All-Midwest in lacrosse

Matthew David Baker was fourth in ACC in passing and led North Carolina to a 5-6 record during his senior year.Matt graduated from the University of North Carolina with an economics degree and also became a brother of the Sigma Chi fraternity.

Houston Texans[]

Matthew David Baker signed as a free agent following the 2006 NFL Draft with the Houston Texans.

Dallas Cowboys[]

Matt was a member of the Dallas Cowboys practice squad in 2006-2007 serving as the team's third quarterback.Matt was released from the Dallas Cowboys July 26, 2007.

New Orleans Saints[]

On August 21, 2007, Matthew David Baker was waived by New Orleans.

Arizona Cardinals[]

Matthew David Baker was re-signed to the Arizona Cardinals practice squad on October 24, 2007.

Miami Dolphins[]

Matthew David Baker was signed by the Miami Dolphins on January 30, 2008, but was waived after the Dolphins drafted Chad Henne in the 2008 NFL Draft.

Buffalo Bills[]

Matthew David Baker was claimed off waivers by the Buffalo Bills on May 1, 2008. Matt was waived/injured on August 26 and subsequently placed on injured reserve. Following the season, Matt became an exclusive-rights free agent. Matthew David Baker was re-signed by the Bills for the 2009 season, but was released following training camp.
