50-yard line action during the 2013 Rose Bowl against Stanford.

The Wisconsin Badgers college football team competes as part of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), representing the University of Wisconsin–Madison in the Leaders Division of the Big Ten Conference (Big 10). Since the establishment of the team in 1889, Wisconsin has appeared in 24 bowl games.[1] Included in these games are eight appearances in the Rose Bowl Game and four Bowl Championship Series (BCS) game appearances.[1][2] Through the history of the program, five separate coaches have led the Badgers to bowl games with Barry Alvarez having the most appearances with eleven. In July 2005, it was announced Bret Bielema would be promoted to head coach following the 2005 season and retirement of Alvarez.[3] Bielema has led the Badgers to bowl games in each season he has served as head coach including back-to-back appearances in the Rose Bowl.[1] Their third consecutive loss in the 2013 Rose Bowl brought Wisconsin's overall bowl record to eleven wins and thirteen losses (11–13).[1]
