Penn State Nittany Lions football have compiled a record of 21-11-2 in bowl games. The Nittany Lions hold a 12-5-1 record in the major bowls (Rose, Orange, Sugar, Fiesta, and Cotton). Their ten bowl appearances from the 1998-2011 seasons were vacated in the due to misconduct during the Penn State child sex abuse scandal.
Coach Joe Paterno was responsible for most of these bids and victories, compiling more wins (18) and appearances (28) than any other coach in Penn State history, with a bowl record of 18-8-1. Paterno also has a record of 12-4-0 in "major" bowls.
