The Maryland Terrapins college football team competes as part of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), representing the University of Maryland, College Park in the Atlantic Division of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Since the establishment of the team in 1892, Maryland has appeared in 24 bowl games.[1] Included in these games are three appearances in the Orange Bowl, one in the Sugar Bowl and one Bowl Championship Series (BCS) game appearance in the 2002 Orange Bowl.[1][2] The latest bowl occurred on December 29, 2010, when Maryland defeated East Carolina 51–20 in the 2010 Military Bowl.[1] The victory in that game brought the Terrapins' overall bowl record to eleven wins, eleven losses and two ties (11–11–2).
