Johnny Patrick (born August 17, 1988) is a American football cornerback for the San Diego Chargers of the National Football League. He was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He played college football at Louisville. The Saints released him February 19, 2013 and he was signed by the Chargers on the next day.

Early life[]

Patrick was born in DeLand, Florida and attended DeLand High School.

College career[]

Patrick played college football for the Louisville Cardinals from 20072010. He was the starting cornerback from 2008–2010. In 2009 Patrick recorded 53 tackles and two interceptions.[1] In the 2010 Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl, Patrick forced a fumble and blocked a field goal to help the Cardinals win against Southern Miss.[2]

Patrick was projected to be a second-round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft.[3]

New Orleans Saints[]

Patrick was selected by the New Orleans Saints in the third round (88th overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft. He was cut by the Saints on February 19, 2013.[4]

San Diego Chargers[]

Patrick was signed by the San Diego Chargers from free agency on February 20th 2013. [5]

Personal[]

Patrick was arrested for a misdemeanor assault charge on June 27, 2010.[1] He pled guilty on July 28 to a reduced charge of harassment with physical contact.[6]
