Jim Tomsula (born April 14, 1968) is an American football coach. He is currently the defensive line coach for the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League, a position he has held since February 2007. Tomsula was San Francisco's interim head coach for the final game of the 2010 season. He has also been the head coach for the Rhein Fire of NFL Europe in 2006, where he compiled a record of 6–4.

Coaching career[]

San Francisco 49ers[]

Tomsula was hired as the defensive line coach of the San Francisco 49ers on January 16, 2007.[1] He was named the 49ers' interim head coach on December 27, 2010, following the firing of former head coach Mike Singletary. He won his first and only game as 49ers coach, 38–7 over the Arizona Cardinals. Jim Harbaugh retained Tomsula in his previous position as defensive line coach following Harbaugh's hire as the 49ers head coach.
