Jeff Sylvester Herrod (born July 29, 1966 in Birmingham, Alabama) is a former American football linebacker in the National Football League. He was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the ninth round of the 1988 NFL Draft. He played college football at Mississippi, where he was inducted to the hall of fame.

During his stellar years with the Colts Jeff was, Team Captain 1989-1998 (Appointed by former coach Ron Meyer, Ted Marchibroda, Jim Mora and Lindy Infante.), Defensive Player of the year 1989, 1990 & 1992, Jeff was Most Valuable Player 1991, Jeff also was the Single Game All-Time Leading Tackler (22),also held the Single Season All-Time Leading Tackler (200), All-Time Leading Tackler (1400)

Some of Jeff's accomplishments in college include : Single Game Tackle Leader (23) (1986), Single Season Tackle Leader (168) (1986), All-Time Career Tackler (528), Southeastern Defensive Player of the Week (Arkansas, 1987), he was the SEC Player of the Week (Arkansas, 1987), National Defensive Player of the week (Sports Illustrated, 1987), Athlon Sports All-Time Ole Miss Rebel Team (1883–1995), Miss Team of the Century (1883–1993), Coaches First Team All SEC (1986) (Team Captain), Team Captain (1987) and Ole Miss Football Hall of Fame (inducted September, 2001).
