Jack Brewer (born January 8, 1979 in Fort Worth, Texas) is a former American football safety in the NFL for the Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, and the Arizona Cardinals.

College career[]
As a freshman, Brewer attended Southern Methodist University(SMU) where he played wide receiver and was an All American Candidate and a Disney World Record Holder for track. After one year at SMU where he had 19 receptions for 352 years and four touchdowns, Brewer transferred to the University of Minnesota where he continued to excel academically and athletically. Brewer was forced to sit out his first season at Minnesota in 1998 under NCAA rules as a transfer student. After playing as free safety his sophomore year where he started 10 full games on the defensive side of the ball, Brewer was moved to wide receiver his junior year at Minnesota. Brewer was third on the team with 22 catches for 286 yards and finished his career with 155 tackles, the fourth highest total in school history.[citation needed]
He was a first team All-Big Ten Conference selection by the media and honorable mention All-Big Ten pick by coaches his senior year. He also earned the Carl Eller Award as the team’s most outstanding defensive player and the Paul Giel Award for most unselfish team player. He was also selected to play in the East-West Shrine Game and the Senior Bowl. Brewer earned his Bachelor and Masters Degree from the University of Minnesota by age 22 while playing college football. He joined Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity at the University of Minnesota during his senior year and is currently an active supporter of the Shriner Hospitals.[citation needed]
Professional career[]
In 2002, Brewer was signed by the Minnesota Vikings as a rookie free agent. In his first year with the Vikings, Brewer played in 15 games and one start as a rookie. He led the team with 26 special teams tackles, five tackles against the Buffalo Bills which tied him for second most in a game in team history and the most special teams tackles in a game since Harold Morrow’s five against Tampa Bay. Brewer was also a candidate for the Pro Bowl and had his first career interception against Brett Favre.
His second year with the Vikings he played in six games, where he was also named team captain, he was inactive for the first three games of the season after suffering a chest injury in preseason. However despite his injury he had a season high of two special teams tackles vs. the Denver Broncos and blocked Jeff Feagles punt vs. the New York Giants, which was the Vikings first blocked punt since 1989. He was later put on injured reserve with a torn pectoral muscle. After his two seasons with the Vikings he went on to play one season each with the New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles, where he was also a team captain for both teams.
Not letting injury affect him, Brewer continued to play an outstanding level of special teams. In 2006, Brewer played in just six games with the Eagles but finished tied for fifth on the team with 15 special teams tackles and twice led the team with four special teams tackles.[1][dead link] He saw action in 13 games with the Arizona Cardinals, only missing three games with a leg injury and was second on the team in special teams tackles with 19 (16 solo).[citation needed]
Business career[]
After retiring from the NFL, Brewer worked as an investment advisor at Merrill Lynch (Aug. 2007-Dec. 2009). During his time at Merrill Lynch, Brewer Raised over $20mm in AUM in first year as a registered investment advisor. He was Responsible for overall asset management, financial planning, insurance and lending.He actively managed over 20 portfolios (high net worth individuals, corporations and elite professional athletes), which included equities, fixed income, alternative investments and cash management. He also ranked in the top 1 percentile throughout the duration of his career at Merrill Lynch.
In 2007, Jack founded The Brewer Group, a diversified global advisory firm offering asset management, specialty finance, longevity solutions and corporate advisory. Based in Minneapolis, with offices in New York, Miami and Dallas, its diverse clientele includes high net worth individuals, small to medium size corporations, elite athletes, entertainers, sports agencies, investment funds and money managers.[citation needed]
