Henoc Muamba (born February 23, 1989 in Kinshasa,[1] Democratic Republic of the Congo) is a Canadian football linebacker for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League. He was selected first overall by the Blue Bombers in the 2011 CFL Draft, becoming the first player from St. Francis Xavier University to be chosen first overall in the draft. He played CIS football with the St. Francis Xavier X-Men.

Professional career[]

In the Canadian Football League’s Amateur Scouting Bureau final rankings, he was ranked as the third best player for players eligible in the 2011 CFL Draft, and second by players in the CIS.[2] On May 6, 2011, a Winnipeg Blue Bombers source leaked the Blue Bombers' intentions to select Muamba with the first overall pick in the 2011 CFL Draft.[3] To no surprise, Muamba was indeed selected first overall by Winnipeg in the draft and was signed to his first professional contract on May 30, 2011.[4]
