Eric O. Ogbogu (born July 18, 1975) is a former American football defensive end in the National Football League for the New York Jets, the Cincinnati Bengals, and the Dallas Cowboys.

Early studiesEdit

He went to elementary and middle school in Immaculate Conception School in Irvington, New York. This school is now closed.

High school careerEdit

Ogbogu played high school football at Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains, New York. He was one of the top ranked running backs in the state.

College careerEdit

Ogbogu played college football at the University of Maryland. He ended up 5th all time in sacks[1] and was named the MVP for the winning South team in the 1998 Hula Bowl.

NFL careerEdit

Ogbogu was drafted with the tenth pick of the sixth round of the 1998 NFL Draft. He played four years for the Jets, one year with the Bengals, before finishing up his professional career by playing 3 years with the Dallas Cowboys. It was with the Cowboys that Ogbogu had a memorable game on Thanksgiving Day in 2004 against the Chicago Bears. During that game he racked up 3½ sacks, the second most in any one game for a Cowboys defender in franchise history. First is Jim Jeffcoat who had five sacks on November 10, 1985.[2]

After footballEdit

Ogbogu is also the official star and spokesperson of the famous Under Armour brand, and is named "Big E" in the Under Armour commercials. His saying, "We must protect this house!" has been made famous from these advertisements. He was featured as "Big E" on EA Sports Fight Night Round 3. Ogbogu also starred in the movie The Game Plan as the defensive end Drake.
