The team was in the league's Pacific Southwest division, along with the Modesto Maniax, three-time IWFL champion Sacramento Sirens, and the Southern California Breakers, and the Fire Cats did not play that year. They have moved to the Women's Spring Football League along with the Nevada Storm, and joined their 8-man division for 2012 as an affiliate, along with the Las Vegas Heat and the Ventura Black Widows. The Fire Cats are Palm Springs' first football team and are recruiting players as of now.
Although they never played in 2012, training camp for the 2013 season opened on October 27, 2012.
