Professional career[]

Atlanta Falcons[]

Matthews was selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the seventh round (230th overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft. He was signed by the team on July 28.[1] Unfortunately, he was injured in the preseason that year.

Unfortunately, his most memorable play is an infamous roughing the passer penalty against the San Fransisco 49ers in the 2013 NFC championship that kept a drive alive en route to a 49ers victory.
