Chad Oliver Scott (born September 6, 1974) was an American football cornerback who retired in 2008. Scott was a surprise number 1 draft choice for the Pittsburgh Steelers, who picked him 24th overall in the 1997 NFL Draft.[1] He played professionally for the Pittsburgh Steelers and the New England Patriots. He played college football at Maryland.

Early life[]

Scott was born in Capitol Heights, Maryland and graduated from Suitland High School in Forestville, Maryland.[2] He attended Towson University and the University of Maryland[3] where he was a kinesiological sciences major.

Professional career[]

To date, Chad Scott has 0 sacks, 21 interceptions, and 4 touchdowns off interceptions. He was originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers as the 24th pick in the first round of the 1997 NFL Draft. He was released by the Pittsburgh Steelers on February 25, 2005. He was signed by the New England Patriots as a free agent on April 26, 2005.[4] Scott suffered a knee injury during the first week of 2007 training camp and was placed on Injured Reserve by the Patriots. He did not play in the 2007 season. He played in the National Football League for eleven years.[5]
