Brendan Gibbons (born August 15, 1991) is an American football placekicker for the University of Michigan. After his senior year at Cardinal Newman High School in West Palm Beach, Florida, Gibbons played as a kicker in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in January 2009, making a 35-yard field goal and three-of-four PATs.[1] He is currently a starter for the 2012 Michigan Wolverines football team.[2] He was a 2012 All-Big Ten honorable mention selection.


Recruiting and commitmentEdit

Gibbons attended Cardinal Newman High School, coached by Don Dicus and as a left-footed kicker played defensive end, fullback and linebacker during his career. He was a two-year varsity letterman, hitting 16-of-21 career field goals and notched touchbacks on 90 percent of his kickoffs in his two years. As a senior, converting 10 of his 12 field goals with a long of 52 yards, seven of which were from 40 yards or longer. Shared the 2008 Lou Groza Award as the Palm Beach County High School Place-Kicker of the Year Award and was also a finalist for the award as a junior. Named to the Special Teams Solutions Elite Class of 2009, recipient of the 2009 High School Maxwell Award for his excellence on the field and in the community. Received first-team all-state honors following junior and senior years. Rated as the No. 8 kicker in the nation by[3] and three-star prospect and the No. 11 kicker nationally according to[4] He committed to Michigan on November 13, 2008.[5] He was a 2012 All-Big Ten honorable mention selection by both the coaches and the media for the 2012 Wolverines.[6][7]
