High school career[]
Product of the Florida State University School. Jenkins carried a four-star rating and was considered the No. 13 weakside defensive end in the nation by Rivals.com as a senior.[1] He recorded 44 career sacks in three seasons, including 20 as a senior, to go along with 80 tackles.
An all around athlete Jenkins also earned second team All-State honors in basketball as a junior. Jenkins was coveted by many but selected the Seminoles over Miami, LSU, South Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama and many more.
College career[]
As a true freshman Jenkins played in 12 of 13 games after enrolling in January 2009. He had 12 total tackles and three tackles for loss, including one in the Seminoles' Gator Bowl victory over West Virginia. He saw his playing time increase in passing situations late in the season. He managed to lead the team in quarterback hurries with four. Jenkins announced his arrival with an impressive spring practice just two months after graduating a semester early from high school and becoming the lone early enrollee.
Jenkins was selected as the most improved defensive lineman at the end of spring practice after establishing himself as the starter at right end. He was an unblockable force for the Gold team in the spring game, sharing the winning team lead with six tackles, including a game-high three sacks.
As a true sophomore in 2010 Jenkins has recorded 62 tackles, 13.5 sacks, and 21.5 tackles for loss and was named Team MVP, 1st team All ACC, and 2nd team All America according to Rivals.com and Scout.com.[2] Among his most impressive games was a career-high nine tackle performance, including 3.5 for loss and two sacks against Boston College and their All-ACC offensive tackle Anthony Castonzo. Jenkins was considered one of the best defensive ends in the country and future high NFL Draft pick.[3]
