Robert Charles Humphery (born August 23, 1961 in Lubbock, Texas) is a former professional American football player who played cornerback for seven seasons in the NFL. He also played in the WLAF and CFL. Started 16 games at LCB in 1988 and emerged as an excellent DB ... was 3rd on squad with 19 passes defensed in addition to 1 INT and 2 sacks ... also excellent on KOR and was 4th in NFL with 24.3 avg ... was AFC's Defensive Player of the Month for Sept. when he had 10 passes defensed, 18 tackles and held his WR to only 1 catch per game ... was Defenseive Player of the Week vs. HOU with 6 passes defensed ... has 2 sacks on consecutive plays at CLE ... is one of few players in NFL history to have scored on offense (TD catch), defense (safety, fumble return) and special teams (KOR) ... made switch from WR to CB in 1986 and had 4 sacks that year ... also tied for 2nd in AFC in 1986 with 23.4 KOR avg., including 96-yard TD at CIN ... has 2 of the 3 longest KORs in club history ... led NFL as rookie in 1984 with 30.7 KOR avg. ... was 14-206-1 TD as WR that year
