The 2012 Tennessee Titans season was the franchise's 43rd season in the National Football league, the 53rd overall, the 16th in the state of Tennessee and the second under head coach Mike Munchak. The Titans failed to improve on their 9–7 record in 2011 and were eliminated from postseason contention in Week 14.

Jake Locker's first NFL start was a rough affair; he was 23-32 for 229 yards and a 29-yard touchdown to Nate Washington. The Patriots forced a fumble by Locker near the Titans goal line and Donta Hightower grabbed the ball and scored. The Patriots behind Tom Brady's 236 passing yards and 125 rushing yards from Stevan Ridley won 34-14. Chris Johnson was limited to just four rushing yards on 11 carries.
