The 1944 Cotton Bowl Classic was a postseason college footballbowl game between the fourteenth ranked Texas Longhorns and the Randolph Field Ramblers, a military institution squad from San Antonio, TX. Randolph boasted many former college football stars, including Tulsa's Glenn Dobbs and Texas A&M's Martin Ruby. The game was played in a cold, steady rain and as result, ended in a sloppy but hard fought, 7-7 tie. 32,000 tickets were sold for the game but only 15,000 spectators came to the game because of the weather.[2]
