The Montreal Football Club (Montreal F.C.) was formed on April 8 in a room at he Mechanic's Hall in Montreal. Montreal F.C would later adopt the nick name Winged Wheelers in 1881 and the Winged Wheelers would carry on into the 1930s. After that, there was a rapid succession of short lived teams and names in Montreal until the Alouettes were formed in 1946. The first football game in Quebec was held between the Montreal F.C. and the Quebec F.C. in Quebec at the Esplanade on October 12. A return match was held on October 26 at McGill University in Montreal. Both games were reported to have ended in ties.
