On November 21, 2008, Sun Media reported that the 2014 Grey Cup would be played at Frank Clair Stadium in Ottawa. The agreement is conditional on Ottawa having a CFL franchise.[2] TSN was able to confirm the rumour through CFL officials.[3] The last time Ottawa hosted the Grey Cup was the 92nd Grey Cup in 2004. That game was won by the Toronto Argonauts 27-19 over the BC Lions.

Lawsuits and delays over the renovation of Frank Clair Stadium have pushed back the date of completion to June 2014,[4] meaning that the new Ottawa team would not begin play until that year. Ottawa Sports and Entertainment spokesman Jeff Hunt stated that due to delays and the desire to host the championship game three to four years after establishing a team, Ottawa would not be hosting the 102nd Grey Cup. CFL commissioner Mark Cohon confirmed on June 4, 2012 that Ottawa would not be hosting the 2014 Grey Cup game due to delays in the construction of the stadium.[5]

On, March 8, 2013, it was announced at a news conference that BC Place in Vancouver, BC, will play host to the 102nd Grey Cup.[1] It will be the 16th Grey Cup to be held in Vancouver (and 8th at BC Place Stadium), the most recent being the 99th Grey Cup in 2011, when the hometown BC Lions defeated the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
